About.

Guy Kable is a Sydney based composer whose music is by turns lush, manic,

beautiful, melancholy, joyful and packed with both emotion and technical skill.

Guy has an innate ability to tell a story through music. He came from an early musical education, studying classical piano in his formative years before picking up his first guitar, a four-track tape recorder and a myriad of effects pedals. With these tools he began experimenting with and developing a fascination with the creation of lush, expansive soundscapes.

He began his professional musical career as a guitarist in a cinematic, post punk

band called BLACKCHORDS, whose music is described as “a mixture of genre-bending soundscapes and haunting melodies that provide the backdrop for what is best described as an otherworldly experience. Sitting somewhere between

heartbreak and a sweaty dance floor BLACKCHORDS exude an immediacy and “wild at Heart” energy that simply cannot be ignored.”BLACKCHORDS quickly made a name for themselves winning multiple accolades for their debut album and toured extensively in Australia, France, the UK and the US.

In between touring schedules and band commitments, he began to make a name for himself as a blues musician in Melbourne, Australia. Described as a troubadour in the truest sense. His emotional and visceral performances combined with his innate ability to convey story gathered a loyal following. Recently his heartfelt song “FATHER” was commissioned to appear in the feature film “STREAMLINE”.

A formal education in electronic music and composition for film followed under the watchful eyes of Eric Chapus aka ENDORPHIN and proved pivotal in his exploration of inspired acoustic instrumentation and textural electronica.

A life spent in performance, and storytelling, Guy spent years touring as an actor and as circus technician whilst developing his own unique musical language. His intimate knowledge of film, story and performance is embodied in his sophisticated compositions and unique arrangements.

Guy’s personality shines through in his use of innovative textures and restrained

melodies. It’s at once unstable, heart-breaking, beautiful and inherently cinematic. The rich, organic soundscapes and harmonious melodies step away from the traditional and coalesce into their own complex textural form.

His understanding of composition as story and the sharing of an experience has

given him the innate ability to make music that plants a flag where it hasn’t been planted before.

Think KID A remixed by Bonobo with an interlude by Four Tet and you’ll be in the

world that Guy inhabits.

“Guy is innovative with his approach to film compositions. I have no doubt that he will continue to create haunting soundscapes”

Eric Chapus AKA Endorphin
